By reading this blog you agree to this statement. </span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">kservice.exe how to deal with it!</span><br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">This is the first fix and its a good one.....</span><span style="font-weight: bold;">XP or Vista</span><br /><br />BBC I player, 4od, Sky, and some others use a program called<br />Kontiki...Most of the time this behaves its self and everything is OK.<br />On some machines it doesn't, which causes the processor to run at<br />100%. This makes the machine seem incredibly slow (put the kettle<br />on slow) and guess what...it can't easly be removed..There's no<br />uninstall for it! Removing the 4od or BBC I player will not stop it!<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">To check and see if this is affecting you, do the following:</span><br /><br />Press ctrl alt and delete together, this brings up the<br />Windows Task Manager. Click on the processes tab and then<br />click on the CPU tab once then once again. At the top (or near it)<br />should be kservice.exe and it will probably be running at 99 percent!<br />Close the Windows Task Manager.<br /><br /><span style="font-weight: bold;">How to fix it!</span><br /><br />Click <span style="font-style: italic;">start</span> (or the windows symbol) and click <span style="font-style: italic;">control panel </span><br />Double Click <span style="font-style: italic;">administrative tools</span> then <span style="font-style: italic;">services</span><br />In services scroll down until you find K Service, then double<br />click on it. Change the Startup type to disabled and click OK to save<br /><br /><a onblur="try {parent.deselectBloggerImageGracefully();} catch(e) {}" href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xqdo21-v_sc/SrdWwu3EhmI/AAAAAAAAAA0/IdeMGoLnBkg/s1600-h/Kservice.bmp"><img style="cursor: pointer; width: 320px; height: 293px;" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/_xqdo21-v_sc/SrdWwu3EhmI/AAAAAAAAAA0/IdeMGoLnBkg/s320/Kservice.bmp" alt="" id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5383867274757441122" border="0" /></a><br /><br /><br />Then close <span style="font-style: italic;">services</span> and <span style="font-style: italic;">administrative tools</span><br /><br /><br />That's it! The PC processor will no longer run at 100%!!<br />This also works for all logins, so you don't have to repeat the<br />process for each Login.<br /><br />All this has achieved is to switch off kservice.exe. If you need it<br />started again, simply go to the <span style="font-style: italic;">services</span> section and switch it back<br />on again.
